To set up the device, first ensure you are using fresh, high-quality alkaline batteries that have been tested to have a voltage of at least 1.48 on a digital voltmeter. If the outdoor temperature display shows dashes instead of a reading, there may be an issue with the connection between the display and the wireless outdoor sensor.
Several troubleshooting steps can help reestablish the sensor connection. Check that the sensor and display are set to the same frequency channel. Positioning the display within 200 feet of the sensor, with minimal barriers in between, can also improve the signal. For best results, bring the sensor inside, place it 5 feet from the display, and allow 15 minutes for a strong connection to form before reinstalling the batteries.
The setup process involves navigating a menu using the SET/°F/°C and +/TEMP or -/TIME buttons. First, you can choose to enable or disable the WWVB atomic time signal. Next, select your local time zone from the 7 options. Then, decide whether to observe daylight saving time. Choose between 12 and 24-hour time formats, and set the correct hour, minute, year, month, and date. The day of the week will automatically set after the date is configured.
Throughout this process, be sure to allow the display and sensor to remain powered off for at least 15 minutes to discharge any residual electricity. Failure to do so can prevent a successful sensor connection or cause missing segments on the display.
Once set up, this projection clock features a color LCD display with a nighttime backlight, allowing you to easily view the time and outdoor temperature, even in low-light conditions. The wireless outdoor temperature sensor transmits readings to the display from up to 200 feet away, and the unit also monitors the indoor temperature.
